To keep the romance progressing smoothly, I used the famous pause technique to quickly initiate dialog between events (like Dermin's appearances, Terminsel, etc.). All the while, weaving in the Planar Sphere quests as well so I could finish both BEFORE the underdark (all of it in Chapter 2). My general plan was to try to schedule the romance events around the regular quests in the game, taking advantage of (among other things) that Jaheira disappears twice. I have read about a million posts on this subject (with varying degrees of helpfulness, but mostly confusion) so I finally decided to write about my experience with this somewhat long romance.
Ok, so this is my third time through SOA in preparation for TOB so I wanted to do it right. I hope it helps any others that wish to complete the romance: Is there any way to avoid this dialogue loop? It is stated in the romance guide that getting the dialogue for the first time will avoid the loop - how is this so?
At the moment, all I should have to do is rest, and eventually Dermin should appear to kill Jaheira however, I was going to save that for Chapter 6. Having aquired a romance guide, of sorts, I've followed it carefully, and ensured that I complete the romance events in the proper order. The problem is that she already said the exact same thing earlier. I am currently in the Windspear hills, and Jaheira said something about us not resting ".according to the cycle of day and night" or something to that effect.
